CCTV News: Xinjiang is one of the important pepper producing areas in my country. In the past two days, peppers in Shawan and other places in Xinjiang have entered the harvest season one after another. Growers rushed to pick and load trucks during farming, and the fields were busy with a bumper harvest. In Gongliu County, located in the middle of the Ili River Valley in Xinjiang, in the past two days, more than 5000 mu of fresh peppers have ushered in the harvest season. This kind of pepper is large and has thick meat. The total output of more than 5000 mu of peppers can reach more than 20000 tons. In Anjihai Town, Shawan City, Xinjiang, a total of 36000 mu of peppers have been planted this year, of which dried peppers such as lantern peppers and line peppers account for more than half. With the improvement of the local scientific planting level year by year, the yield is also increasing. Half of the income of local farmers comes from peppers. It is understood that pepper cultivation in Xinjiang is mainly distributed in Changji Prefecture, Yili Prefecture and Tacheng Prefecture to the north of Tianshan Mountain and Bayinguoleng Prefecture to the south of Tianshan Mountain. In addition to fresh pepper and dried pepper, there are also processed pepper such as pigment pepper and sauce, with a planting area of about 1.6 million mu. The harvest period of pepper this year will last from now on until the end of September.
